After talking with hundreds of clients I understand how confusing the criminal justice can be. It would be confusing enough if it made sense, but more often than not it doesn’t. When you combine a lack of understanding with the fear most people already about what will happen you guarantee stress. While you can never eliminate or stress or worry, it helps to understand what is happening. At least you can eliminate those fears or concerns that may actually be unwarranted.
To assist in understanding the process I have created several publications, and continue to add to them. The publications so far are:
Hiring guide for potential clients – most people have never had to use a lawyer and have no idea what to look for. It’s an important decision that will effect your future, and it should be an informed. This guide contains the things you should look for, and includes information that will help you evaluate lawyers. It also contains information that will help you interpret lawyer ads and other promotional material – which is often extremely misleading
Understanding the Criminal Process – while not meant to be a textbook on criminal law, this guide covers the more important aspects of criminal justice system and what you need to know.
DWI survival guide – Driving while intoxicated is one of the most common criminal offenses. It’s also one of the more complex, since it often involves different types of tests. The accuracy of those is questionable, and you must know their limits. You shouldn’t make any decision in a DWI case without knowing everything can, and this guide points out some of the things you should be aware. It’s usual information even if you haven’t been arrested, since most people have friends or family members who may face this charge.
